 Childbirth Education

If you have one, a few, or several, it is an experience in your life you will, of course, remember. There is nothing like a birth of a baby – your baby.

My vision for birth is a smartone. Where you, an expectant mom have all the information (the correct information) you need to make smart choices based on what YOU want.  Smart birth is also not being denied information as far as your options in giving birth. The availability of choices also depends on where you live, and your health acre provider. Leslynotes offers a free online childbirth class

SmartBirth is a free Childbirth Class Social Network

SmartBirth ™  =Proactive, mindful birthing. Intelligent, intuitive, with know-how.

Thank you for your interest in SmartBirth ™. This class focuses on mindfulness during the birthing process. A “mindful” birth is the ability to control negative thoughts during your pregnancy and labor experience. Through relaxation exercises, personal confidence, enhanced physical response to labor, and positive birthing experience can be attained.

Scientific research demonstrates how your perceptions of life experiences, based on beliefs and values, can influence your behavior and determine how you may respond to stressful situations, like labor and birth.  Also, the degree in which you feel stressed or anxious about birth will also contribute to a cascade of hormonal physiological responses in your body which can have a negative impact on the labor process.

Today, the birthing experience is treated as a medical event in which the OB practitioner guides you through various testing, and medical procedures treating pregnancy and birth in a clinical manner. Certainly, there are times when these procedures are necessary. However, as women become more dependent on these actions and decisions made by the practitioner, self confidence in your innate instincts and abilities to birth your baby lessen and are overshadowed by medical advice.

SmartBirth ™ believes through exploration of personal coping skills, attitudes, understanding physiology during the labor process, and in -depth relaxation skills, leads to a better, healthier birth experience.

Communication with your physician will also improve because of your increased knowledge of the labor process, decreased fear, and enhanced confidence in your own abilities to birth your baby.

Smartbirth ™ focuses on three main areas:

  1.  Attitudes and coping skills
  2. Stress and relaxation
  3. Physiology

 Classes:

 1.

Self Discovery: First, it is important to understand your opinions, attitudes, perceptions about birth, your circumstance, and coping skills as all of these will be with you in the labor room. • Coping skills
  • Perceptions
  • Self talk
  • How fear and anxiety induce the stress response
  • Relaxation skill

However, if you want a medicated birth, education will be provided. Medications are viewed as a tool to use for pain management.

  • Deep breathing
  • Day dreaming, visualizations
  • Positions

  • Pain threshold
