Lesly Federici, a graduate of Rutgers University, received her nursing license 1995 and worked as a labor and delivery nurse.
In 1998 Ms. Federici was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Pseudo Xanthoma Elasticum (PXE) which caused partial loss of her eyesight. As a result she was unable to practice clinically as an RN. That same year she started her new and current career as a Childbirth Educator.
Lesly created U Smile Services to encompass a variety of programs to assist individuals in living healthier and happier lives. Through the years her interest in the mind/body connection in relationship to birth, stress, pain management, and illness, inspired her to receive certifications in hypnosis, Wellness Coaching, and Reiki.
Her current projects include creating the “Go Baby Green” class, the first of its kind to be offered in a hospital teaching the community, especially new parents, how to create a safer, chemical free home for their families. Lesly also gives talks and presentations about going green to daycare centers and has been featured on Parent TV, and Fox news.
In 1998 Lesly created an online childbirth class that is still active and available to women worldwide for free. She also teaches “live” childbirth classes online known as the Smartbirth 4 online class series. She is also currently involved in developing one of the first “Mindful Pregnancy and Birth” Class at Overlook hospital to be released to the public in January 2011.
Ms. Federici lives in New Jersey with her husband, son and crazy pets.
