The Environmental Working Group

leafThis websiteewg.org - the Environmental Working Group, is one of my favorite sites and I want to share it with you.

When I was doing research for a class I was creating for the hospital where I work, I came across this website. It is amazing. It has so much information. Their research on toxins in the environment and on our health, and the health of children – especially kids, really got me going on the green path of living.

They have worksheets you can print out on healthier products to use, a cosmetic data bank which tells you what skin products are safe, or not to use. In fact, toxic chemical exposures from cosmetics are the #1 source. #2 is household cleaning products according to the American Poison Control Center.

Something to think about.

Watch these two videos and you will understand the impact and why we really need to change our habits and green our lives.

What an honor to see you visiting my blog! Thanks! I talk about EWG all the time and glad to be spreading the word! You do valuable work… I am glad to share it with others

  2. Lesly,
Thanks for sharing theses videos and the Environmental Working Group. So nice to see someone looking out for us and doing the needed research.
It is very apparent that parts per billion is enough to have detrimental effects and he made that point very clear.
All change starts with awareness so thanks for opening our eyes!

I will have to check out that link….this is a passion of mine as well. About 12 years ago, in my first couple years in network marketing, I used to do seminars called “Skin Sense”. I would educate people about the toxins in personal care products and then present with organic alternatives. I was in college, and it was a fun way to build my business and know that I was making a difference in the process.

Thanks for sharing this message and these videos, Lesly! Important and sobering.

  4. Hi Lesly,
I could not agree more with you. We do need to live greener lives. I was born and raised in Europe, where there is a lot less space than here in the US. This is probably the reason that green has been an issue there for a lot longer than it has been here.
And even there it leaves a lot to be desired.
I appreciate the fact that you are making others aware of the urgency with which change is needed. Thanks.

Lesly, this is horrifying! It should be required viewing for anyone who has, or aspires to have children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren!

Thanks for sharing – we can all do something to make sure this information gets as widely circulated as possible.

  6. Wow certainly a wake up call. We can continue to bury our head in the sand or take steps to make changes that can extend and improve our quality of life

  7. Thanks Lesly, it’s very important for us to change our habits to make things better for us and others around us.

I have bad habits which I could replace with better methods and after seeing this, I will make more of an effort.

Thanks for bringing this to us.

The videos..drove home the message, we need to clean up our environment! The website that you gave I bookmarked it so I can refer back to it.
My passion goes along the side of ours and that’s eating local, supporting our local farmers, eating health! The air we breath and the food we eat has a direct connection on our health.
    This was eye opening!
    Thanks for sharing
